I'm having a problem with NEWSGROUPS in Outlook Express 6.0. The newsgroup I subscribe to (phl.transportation) shows that numerous unread messages are available after synchronization but only one shows in the message list window.

FYI, I'm using IE7 with Windows XP.

    Hi philly
Since this is a problem related to Outlook Express I'm going to move this to the IE-OE forum. You may get more help there.

Having said that, the only thing I can think of is possibly they are all contained in one thread. Is there a plus sign to the left of the message header? If so, click it and see how many replies are in the thread. If they add up to the number that OE shows as being unread, that would be the answer.

Thanks for the reply and for moving my inquiry to the proper place.

No, there is no plus sign next to the single message that's displayed.

BTW, I was recently upgraded to IE7, would that be part of the problem?

Have you looked through all the options under Tools->Options?

The Delete after read could be the cause..

    'Delete after read' is unchecked.

Edit > Catch Up normally does the trick for me.

I did a 'catch up'. it removed the unread messages indication. Then I synchronized the newsgroup and the 106 unread message indication returned.

BTW, I subscribed to another newsgroup and found the same problem.
