I was following good advice and read the Read Me Release Notes and a question came up. For the pros on here, it will sound basic. However, I don't have a good, simple answer for the person asking it. The question is:
What is this about Vista X64 and what is that? For example, I have Vista Home Premium. The Internet Explorer notes mentioned the OS's that it worked on and the person was curious as to what these notes really meant. He also has an XP Pro laptop and XP Home laptop and found himself put off by some of what he read.

Can't say that I understand the question..

Are you asking about what X64 means?
If so, it indicates that the OS is a 64 bit version. As opposed to the standard 32 bit version.

    To clarify a bit :)

My friend and I were reading information on the New IE Beta and he pointed out that the info stated Vista 64 as a supported OS. I thought I would ask here, to see if the new IE indeed is only for 64 bit. Am I correct in understanding that different Vista types are different in that area?

IE is not only for 64 bit systems or OS.

Different versions of IE are available - both for 32 bit & 64 bit OS. You have to download & install the appropriate version.

    Thanks for the info

I went to Microsoft IE 8 Beta download page and yes, you were right of course. Found the version applicable to Vista Home Premium and did it. Immediately found that the Comcast Webmail page runs best with Compatibility Mode set to On. Other than that, no problems as of yet.
