I read the article, and the guy who did the discovery/reporting to the world attitute stinks. It is not matter of IE vs the other guys. Software is written by human beings, and that's enough of a reason for having vulnerabilities. And, then we have a guy who could have helped, but, instead he makes the information available to any creep who wants to use it, giving no chance to come up with any solutions.
I expect flaws, and there has been no problem with alternate browsers because no one cares to inflict pain and suffering on one, two or ten people out of 100. Is it not more fun, or effective if a criminal is involved to mess up 90 out of 100?
I can see the episode only this way.

    Hello Westside,

And, then we have a guy who could have helped, but, instead he makes the information available to any creep who wants to use it, giving no chance to come up with any solutions.

I agree with you - couldn't this have been done differently?

But, I have read that security people have been ignored or shrugged off by the software developers in this regard, and for all I know, this person has had some bad experiences with trying to warn these software companies about flaws. Keep in mind that people like this are mono-maniacs and have what amounts to a messianic mission; I think that shows through in his defense of his action.

    Regards - Charles
