    Hi all
I have a win2000 server which I would like to do the backups for all my Macs through. Here's my configuration

    2 mac with osx
    2 mac with os9
    lots of win 98/Me computers
    1 win2000 server

all computers in the building can see the w2000 server, all computers can see the osx machines. The win 98/me computers can only see the os9's with pc maclan running. I can transfer files from the os9's to the win 2000 server, but, that server cannot see the os9 machines. I have the apple-talk protocol running on the server.

I cannot access the os9 machines from the server when I input their ip address. All computers have guest accounts with full access.

I need to be able to see the os9 machines from the server in able to back them up.. I am thinking this has got to be something obvious, I just cant seem to see the forest for the trees now.

    Thanks

    Marylee

Marylee - not trying to run you off but Mac expertise seems to be scarce on this forum. We do good with M$ stuff, fair with Linux/Unix stuff, and usually have only a blank stare when someone has a Mac issue.

You might want to take a look at http://www.macwindows.com/ which deals almost completely with Windows/Mac integration issues. I did a little searching and I think you can find the information you need there.

By no means a MAC expert but :

    1) OS 8.6 or above with Win2K means you can go purely IP, no need for AppleTalk

    2) Apple file and print services needs to be on server (amazing eh !)

3)All Pcs and AMcs will see each other in this kind od environment because they will register in 2000s DNs when you assign their IP adrees via DHCP (if they do not then repost and we'll go through the DHCP and DNS config required)

As Newt rightly says we're pretty good at that sort of stuff....

(PS OS X should work the same but lord knows..)
