My neighbor wants to network two computers in the same room. He has cable Internet acess. Since both systems will be in the same room, would a cable connection be the best method as opposed to wireless? Any recommendation on what's needed to do this is greatly appreciated.

There are a few possible ways that you can network two computers. I recommend purchasing a broadband router. Any computer part of a network will need a network card installed, either wireless or wired network card depending on the setup you choose.

You can also configure the machines in Ad-hoc mode without a router. Install wireless cards in the machines and enable ICS on the host computer. This will act as a router. For more details, see the following link.
