Trying to help a friend with an XP machine to network to a W2KPro machine. The ICS works, but the shared resources don't. The resources on the 'host' W2KPro machine are defined as shared, & the XP 'client' machine has the host printer defined as default.

I think the problme is that the user ID on the 'client' machine doesn't match the user ID of the 'host' machine.

    1. Do the user ID's have to match & if so how do I set up a 'host' user ID on the 'client' machine with a identical settings of the current user on the 'client' machine.

    2. If the suer ID "s don't need to match, then wht is required to have the client see the host resources....especially the printer?

machines connected via hub & network cards.

    Computer~manage~users & groups~users~add.

Make sure the account is identical (case & password) with the one being used to logon to the other PC. If more than one is used, add em all.

Add the account(s) to the appropriate group(s) on the host machine.

Great newt & thanks. How do I create the new userID on the client machine to have the same desktop as the current user on the client machine? The current user on the client machine has done a lot of customization, and would like to preserve this. Also how do U make the newly defined user the 'default' user at logon time?
