    Hello,

I have a PC that is running Windows 7 Pro. It is connected to a SBS2003 network that uses Active Directory. I just added a NAS to the network. I am able to map the NAS drive to an older WinXP PC, but not the newer W7 PC. On further checking I discovered something strange on the W7 machine. In Windows Explorer the Network Folder is blank - meaning I do not see my server, networked printers, or the PCs. When I look on the XP machine, all of these devices and the NAS is visible.

I will say that I do have three drives on my SBS2003 server mapped to the W7 PC - so I am connected to the Domain.

I tried solving this myself. I found this MS support article:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/Why-can-t-I-see-other-computers-on-my-network

I followed the recommendations and went to "Advanced Sharing Settings ". I then made the following changes:

    1) Under Home or Work Network Discovery was off - I turned it on.
    2) Under Public I turned Network Discovery and Public Folder Sharing on
    3) Under Domain the current profile Network Discovery was already on. I did turn on public folder sharing.

The Network Folder is still empty! Not sure if I need a reboot - but will try that next after I post this question.

I would like help in solving this. In addition, please tell me if any of the above changes I made create a security hole that I should fix.

    Thanks!
    Chip

P.S. I found this link that suggests making a RegEdit change. When I go to my Networks Directory folder all I see is my NIC!

Verify that there is NO homegroup. And set to password sharing.
