Netscape 7.1, When downloading an exe file off the net, my file downloads but ends up with wps extension on the end making it useless and unable to open. Then I must go to IE and download with no problem. I'm using 98SE.

You can always delete the extra attachment.
Otherwise, do you an this, in your Preferences|User applications: application/octet-stream ? If so, get rid of it.

    WPS FILE?

There is no extra attachment. When you click on this exe file with the wps on the end it opens MS Word. These are not wps files. They are exe programs. Some how when I download with Netscape 7.1 they turn in to wps files. Does not happen with IE. (or earllier versions of Netscape)

    Welcome to the Forum, RCool!

    Hi RCool,

Yes, highlight the application/octet-stream listed, then click on the "Delete" tab.

You can always remove the additional .wps extension from your downloaded executable files, and they will work. I believe this is what Westside was telling you.
