Netscape Bookmarks

Hi all, I have all my bookmarks organized w/ seperate folders. For some reason when bookmarks are viewed in edit bookmarks they look like this:
Bookmarks for (my name)
Bookmarks for (my name)
goes on 9 times like that then the bookmarks start
I have my bookmarks saved on a 3.5 and it's the same. In my browser when I click on bookmarks, my name fans out 7 or 8 times. This is not a problem but it is very inconvienent. Anyone seen this before?

 

Sorry I forgot to mention it's ver. 4.79. It also happens in 4.75

Hi BG,

Sounds as if when organizing your Bookmarks, you may have created several Bookmark files, rather than folders under your Bookmark heading.

When you open Windows Explorer and look in your Users folder, you are seeing bookmark.htm listed 7-8 times? If so, then the above is most likely what you have done.

When in "Edit ", make sure that all folders are listed under the "Bookmarks for BimmerGuy ". I may be wrong, but without seeing your file, that's my first impression.

You will see that the folders are under the main heading.

Hi Ramona,I think we are on the same page. I edited bookmarks.html so there is just one (bookmarks for Bimmer guy) & save. I go to my netscape browser and my name is still there 7 times.

 

Hi again Ramona, I fixed the darn thing. I put "set as toolbar folder" above bookmarks for (my name) and my bookmarks are pretty as a peach.

Glad that you finally got those Bookmarks sorted!

I notice that you referred to your Bookmark file as:bookmarks.html

Your Communicator Bookmark file should be bookmark.htm.

Just wondering if this is from a Netscape 6 or 7 install, where you might have copied your Bookmarks files from one of those Versions back to Communicator?

Hi again Ramona, that was a typo re bookmark.htm
Actually I never have had ver 6 or 7 installed. I have only used 4.75. Just recently moved to 4.79. Maybe I'm a few years behind the times. LOL
