    Hi all,
I have 2 queries in regards to NS8.
    1. Can we get NS8 to launch my NS7 mail client on launch of NS8?
    2. If we can get the above to occur, can then we safely uninstall the NS7 browser only using XP Add/Remove Programs?
    Cheers and TIA,
    Graeme.

    1. Yes, you can, by View|Customize|drag and drop System Mail, as long as 7.2 is your default mail. Otherwise, whichever mail client is default.
    2. You cannot uninstall the browser only.

    Hi Westside,
    That answered Q?'s 1 & 2. Almost.
I haven't tried yet but I thought I would ask while I am here with another Q?
Will this launch my email on NS8 browser start?
I noticed that if I click on a link in an email, such as that in the notification of your reply, it launched NS7. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?
    Cheers and thanks,
    Graeme.

NS8 has no mail, and, you must keep the entire 7.2 to get mail at all .
It will not launch 7.2 when you open 8, mail or not. If you want to access mail while you are in 8, you have to click on the envelope from System Mail.
This is confusing, of course, but I think that AOL wanted to present something which would be more familiar to IE users. And, when you open IE, I don't think that there is any way to open OE at the same time.
So, if you want the browser and mail to be open at the same time, you are looking at the wrong set up. If one click is satisfactory, you are home part of the way. If you want to have a link open in NS8, I think that it should work if NS8 is the default browser (but it may not work since 7.2 browser+mail).
I am using Thunderbird as default, and if I would select NS8 as default browser, there would be no problem.

    Hi again Westside,
If I download and install Thunderbird, I believe it will import/migrate my NS7 mail profile.
Will it also import/migrate the emails and folders in my NS7 email client?
Can I then safely remove NS7?
    Cheers and thanks,
    Graeme.

    Graeme,

Yes, Thunderbird will migrate your Netscape Mail and Address Book. Take a look at this MozillaZine Knowledge Base Article, which explains how this is done:
    Migrate from Netscape.

Once you have your Mail in Thunderbird, wait a day or two before uninstalling 7.2, to ensure that everything is running as it should. Then you can safely uninstall 7.2, using Add/Remove.

Let us know if you need more help, or have more questions.

    Ramona

    Hi Ramona,
How have you been keeping? Long time no speak. Just downloaded and installed Thunderbird. Everything seemed to go well. Links in the mail open in NS8. Everything seems to have come across from NS7 mail ok. Will keep NS7 for a couple of days. If I have any more Q?'s I will post them in this thread.
Cheers and thanks to you and Westside.
    Graeme.

Looking good. I suggest that you keep 7.2. I have been awfully lazy backing up my profiles, but, if you keep NS7.2 and TB going, you will have built in backups.
That's why I have more than one place with my mail accounts, as well as my bookmarks.
But, uninstall 7.2, if you do not want to bother with the extra checking.
