There are two updates on my desktop waiting to be installed, KB110806 and KB929300 neither of which I can find when I go to the Windows Download Center.

Has anyone installed these Service Packs, one for .Net 2.0 and the other for .Net 3.0? I don't know if I should go ahead and install them or not.

Any help will be appreciated.

They are legitimate updates, and yes, I have installed them on several machines. No problems to report with them. ;)

.NET Service Packs titled KB110806 and KB929300 will NOT INSTALL

Hello Ann, I notice that you have now been able to install the above .NET Framework Service Packs! I have been unable to accomplish either installation after repeated attempts for the last 3-4 days. I would appreciate any help you can provide. I notice that Internet is LOADED with the same failure problems and am amazed that other visitors to BBS have not had the same experience.

    Sincerely, scottdietert

    Hi scottdietert,

Look in the Add/Remove programs list and verify that both Net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 are installed. Often times the service packs are issued despite not having either version of the Net Framework installed. If not installed, go to the Windows Update site and do a custom update, then check the Recommended updates for the Net Framework installations. Once installed, the service packs will install successfully.

    Hello Noah,
Thanks for your first reply to my post. I have both MS .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 installed on my Dell 4600 home computer using Win XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2.0 installed since its release. Neither upgrade will install.
    ----------------------------------------
I now realize both MS .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 are badly corrupted. I finally un-installed .NET Framework 3.0, but the former 2.0 cannot be reinstalled, un-installed, or repaired. I think I'll avoid installing any future *.NET Framework applications from MS.
If someone can suggest a way to finally remove 2.0 please post a message; otherwise this post seems moot.
    Thanks Noah for your thoughts.
    Scott
