    Live update

    Hi

I am not big myself but am a HUGE virus to the computer - need I say more

I had the same problems with Windows Critical updater thus do not use it now.

I would gather from what you tell me that I should disable this function in NIS ? ( despite it warning me - see things do terrify me ! )

I understand what you mean that it may just be at the wrong time - think I will go & find the disable Auto update button ........
I don't mind doing this as I always run it for myself .... I was just making really sure but I have JUST changed my mind.

As for 98 it has gone - all XP NTFS now ( easier for someone like me )

Hope I can find the right bit to disable ;)

    Hi

I thought over the facts of your post & made my desicion to not allow the auto-update to run. I am meticulous about updating programs myself thus do not forget - may be OK for those who may forget. ( not so good at updating drivers & wouldn't dare to update graphic cards etc - I would be in real trouble then ..... )

I am aware that not all of Windows updates actually related to my setup - even those on the critical list thus I now read all the details before I just accept.

Good housekeeping in the home relates to the computer too ;)

    I 'Blearning ' everyday .......

Guess What I found - Canuk

I was on Symantec KB - found something very interesting relating to the patch 10th / 11th April ........ Icons disappearing - PC's slow to load - programs taking longer to open ??????????

The patch has been removed as they ae now investigating. After all the unistall etc we had to do ! ( plus the confidence you had to send to me .... )

Wonder how long we should wait before downloading updates to anything

Hi miniB: Hope you had a nice Easter holiday. Thanks for the info. I guess with regards to the next Norton update, i'll download it and hope for the best.
If you can, could you please post the link to the exact place you found this on Norton KB? I'd sure appreciate it also, maybe others following this post will find it interesting also.
    Thanks, Pat

    Me with long Link !

    Hi

Thank you for your kind words - hope you had a nice Easter also. We had lovely weather except for yesterday when it rained from dawn to dusk !

I have the link BUT it is long as it involves all Symantec pages etc

Will try it - post it - the use it and see if I arrive at the page - if not I will edit the post

    Patch 6.04 Symantec problems

I think we may have the updates with the other removed as we did the unistall etc & then ran Live update again - I am leaving well alone just now ..... wonder why ?

I must have learnt something the link works

Thanks for the link miniB. I too will leave well enough alone. Everything seems to be working perfectly now and I would like it to stay that way. Interesting that since I uninstalled and deleted all Norton related progs, files and folders and then a fresh re- install of NIS my computer is completely up and running in less that 45 seconds when I start up.:)
