Need Audio Burning Software

    Hi All,

This is what I am looking for. I need a program that will allow me to create and burn audio CDs. The problem that I am finding is that I can not set different pause amounts for each individual track. For example, I need a 2 second gap between songs 1-4, no gaps between 5-9, a 5 second gap after 9, and 2 second gaps for all other songs. I need to change the gap amount after any song. My wife teaches exercise classes and needs to have specific gaps between certain songs.

I have tried the following programs: Nero OEM version 6.3.1.26 (changing pause amount does not work), Musicmatch 9 (2 second gap on all or no gap), Windows Media Player 11, Winamp 5.52, Sonic RecondNow 6, Real Player 11, and Windows Movie Maker. Movie Maker works the best, but the CD comes out as one big track. I need the tracks to be separated on the CD also, so that I can (for example) skip to track 5 after listening to track 2. That's hard to do when it's all one track.

I realize that what I have, or tried, is all free programs and that I probably need to go with a purchased program. Not a problem as long as the cost is reasonable. Any recommendations? Pros or cons with the software that you are using? Personal recommendations are always the best. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I'm running Nero Ultra (purchased) version 6.6.1.4
    Used Nero Burning ROM.
This is what the VIEW lets me do ....

I added 5 mp3 music files to view in my preferred playing order. Then, for any song selection I can right click, a dialog box appears. Selecting "Properties" brings up Audio Track Properties Screen. Half way down the screen their is a "Pause" input field. Input any number greater than 1 (be sure to right of this field, seconds is value). Now click on "Apply ", then OK from screen. Repeat for next song. Remember, the pause is added to the front of the song selected.

When I do the above, the Start - End time for the songs reflect the ADDED "Pause" values, as does the Total Time for the listed songs. I did notice their was some minor discrepancy which may be need to be adjusted to get exact values required. I did not burn this, but it is giving the appearence it would provide what your looking for. Would be a nice project to burn on CDRW until you got precise values for your needs, then burn to a regular CD. When you do the above, does the burn NOT have the required pause values??

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the response. When I bring up Nero to do the CD, I get kicked into Nero Express. I go about changing the pause as you mentioned. The only difference was that I thought the pause went after the song. That might be part of the problem. Since I can't enter a 0, it will be hard to run songs back to back without any dead air. That was the problem before. She's got to keep that routine flowing without a pause. :D

    Hi Mike
I have not tried to burn a CD, but it appears Nero Express allows to remove pause (this is called Gapless tracking). Just remove the Tick from "No pause between tracks ". You can now change pause value to 0 or greater for any track after track 1. I have tried a number of file combinations and the total play time reflects correct values. I Google a number of threads, and track 1 should be left at 2 second pause (Nero thing) ... keep in mind, the pause is put in front of the track. This should not cause a problem, since track 1 cue to your wife is when track 1 music starts. It might be easier to put all the tracks / play order in Nero Express and starting from the last track, input pause value you want BEFORE that track plays.
One thing I noticed with Nero Express, your view for play time per track always math adjusts DOWN to closest full second. So a track true play time with 4:15:78, will view as 4:15, so need to be aware of this and make possible pause adjustments if necessary. I sure hope the above settings meet your needs when you burn your CD's. Hopefully your burner can burn CDRW's for testing.

    Dennis,

I will give it another try on a RW disk. I had tried the gapless tracking before and thought it was either all or nothing. I will check that again. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how it comes out.

    Dennis,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. I've been a little under the weather and haven't felt like doing anything. I tried the Nero software again and things seem to have come out better this time. Maybe it was the fact that I thought the pause would be after the track, instead of before it, or maybe it was something else I was missing. At any rate, my wife says that the breaks were correct and everything sounded good. Thanks for your help!

    Hi Mike

    Glad it worked.
    Hope you get over cold/flu.
My youngest daughter just got over a nasty cold. Missed a week of school. She still talks like a frog.
