Is it possible to delete the "My Computer" icon from the desktop?

I can do the Network Neighborhood through policy and the Recycle bin through regedit, but I would like a completely clear desktop.

    Thanks

    A couple of suggestions:
    1) Try DeskSweeper from
    http://no-nonsense-software.com/freeware/
which will give you a clear desktop.
    2) Edit the My Computer icon so that it is just a dot and rename the icon with just a space.

Why not just:- right click on desktop, point to "arrange desktop icons by" and de-select the "show desktop icons" option.

    oooops, thats an XP thing!!!!!

    Thanks for all the replies.

In the end, I had to replace the My Computer Icon with a blank bmp.

I could remove all the icons by adding an entry referencing the icon's CLSID to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Nonenum, but I could only remove 2 of them that way. I doesnt matter which 2, I tried all combinations, but if I removed all 3, logon would fail to load the user profile and the machine would just hang.

I suppose there is a way around this, and/or other registry edits that would do the job, but the blank icon was a quick and easy fix.

    Thanks for your help
