I have been using Musicmatch for years. A few months ago, while on the internet, I started hearing website clicks and pops thru the mp3s, while before they were muted.
A few weeks ago MM started skipping the mp3s like they were old records. Usually the 1st song is okay, but by the 4th or 5th they are unlistenable. It sounds like the song 'backs up' a tenth of a sec, repeatedly.
Media player and Winamp play the songs fine.
I started with MM 7.0, upgraded to 7.5, reinstalled 7.0, and reinstalled a fresh 7.5. Sent the files to MM tech. Reinstalled the sound card drivers. Shut off win.ini stuff to test, with no change. Used Norton and system file checker. Removed realplayer, and probably did other stuff. No change.
Is the sound card incompatable somehow? It's hard to believe the same program would stop working. I like the layout of MM and want to keep using it.

I don't know how to do msconfig. There are generally 18 running.
I have tuned up windows quite a bit because of this anyway, and it is running faster. However, today system file checker creates a kernel32.dll error, so I can't even run sfc.

    " "I don't know how to do msconfig" "

Not sure it will cure the problem ,but needs to be done anyway.
Its confusing atfirst but you'l get it

Go to start run type msconfig and ok a panel come up use the startup tab and write everything down --thats in the left colum
and then cancel out back to windows desktop.
then go to these websites and look find out what you can do without .If its not listed at one will be at another
Also go to > start >programs> startup folder you can drag anything in there out temoraraly.
    Good luck
    Let us know ?
Someone eles will have to step in to help with sfc
    I dont have it..

To run Windows Me & 98& se, Scanregw, Systray, the two Load Power Profile entries, State Manager and PC Health are the only needed items.
Check out the others in one or more of these places.

Thanks for the links. That should keep me busy a while.
I've used the startup programs checks already. MM suggested that right off. No change in MM.
One other thing is that when MM starts stuttering, the mouse cursor gets jerky. Strange interaction there.
