This is a new Intel Board DG33FB Dual Core. The original Problem was that the it would hang when trying to restart, but if you just shut it down it was fine.

I had a similar problem with an older computer and solved the problem by putting a fresh OS on it. So I did that with the one above. First I tried to
repair XP and all it did was go into a restart each time it would start to install devices.

Now I tried to put a fresh OS on it. Had it reformat the drive (quick format)
so after copying the files and then saying system will restart in 14 seconds.

It comes back up with a Blue Screen Stop*** 0x0000000A

The specs on he board say that if you're not going to install Vista...the
HD has to be changed in the Bios from SATA to IDE which is done.

I took all but 1GB of ram out. I have use both PC4200 & 5300 to rule out
    ram incompatibility.

The HD is an 80GB Hatachi drive using the onboard video, sound, etc.
    No additional cards.
Since I have not been able to install Windows I have not been able to
install the Intel Board drivers which was not a problem on the first install.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Axelrod

Welcome to the Best the WindowsBBS!

Ok you don't have much choice so do the below!

    1. Boot into the BIOS and set BIOS to Defaults. Do not use Advanced settings yet! Do that after sucessful install.

    2. Switch it back from IDE to SATA!

    3. Logon to the Motherboard website or find the SATA drivers disk creator on the driver CD. (Hopefully you have a Floppy) and F6 these drivers into the install.

    4. Use full format this time.

Doing the above will give you a greater chance of success but if you do not have a floppy then leave the IDE set but do step 1 and 4.

    Thanks for the Welcome!
    Only had 2 BIOS options
Changing the HD to ACHI 0r IDE.
ACHI was default and it wouldn't recognize the HD
    until changed back to IDE.
Sorry about the SATA. meant to say SATA HD to IDE
Right now doing a full format and will try another install.

    Will post progress.

In any case did you set the Advanced Bios setting to Default (Safe) settings?

This all points to a graphics adapter problem. Even the no restart but will shutdown you mentioned in your 1st post.

Does this Motherboard have a PCI-E on board vga controller or just a PCI?

If it has only a PCI turn off all PCIe and PEG settings in the bios.

Other than that you possibly have a bad motherboard.

    Okay Mike,

Wishful thinking says it's not the MB because
I had it up before with the restart problem.

The Bios Video Config is: Selected

DVMT Mode (default) 2 choices DVMT & Fixed DVMT default selected
IGD DVMT Memory 128 MB 128MB
IGD Aperature Size 256 MB 256MB
PEG Negotiate Width Not Detected no other selection
    No PCI available
Primary Video Adapter 3 choices DVMT Fixed & Auto On Auto

Just noticed in the selected... The mode is DVMT whatever that is, but the Primary is set to auto rather than DVMT.

The selections other than Auto are:
    Intel Graphics (IGD)
    Ext PCI E
    Ext PCI Graphics

    Thanks

    Same results.

I went as far as putting a GE FORGE 8200 card
in it and changed the Video settings and the
    Same thing!
The reason I put the PCI card in was to rule out
the possibility of a video problem rather than a
    motherboard problem.

But I'm not sure that I did so. Because if the video
on board is bad, will it not just be transferred from
the onboard video to the PCI?
    Thanks.
