    Hi all,

I posted this same thread on the Vista forum, then realized that the Networking area might be a better place. Any Ideas??

I am having a problem with my Local Area Connections... Every time I boot the computer up, it recognizes 2 connections and tries to use both of them which in turn clashes and I get no internet at all... I disable the one that is named 'Unidentified Network' and try to leave the 'Network' one going, but it disables both of them when one is disabled... I run the diagnose and repair for internet and it enables the 'Network' one and is 50/50 chance of wether it enables the other one or not again, If not then I am good to go, if it does then i disable them again and redo the process...

I am trying to figure out how to get rid of one of the connections all together so I don't have this problem, or change a setting so it seperates the two from each other and I can only run one of them.

I am running Home Basic Vista
Motherboard: ASUS A8N32-SLI DELUXE with built in ethernet controllers
Network: the motherboard manual states the following:
    LAN:
Marvell PCI Express Gigabit LAN controller
    Marvell Gigabit LAN PHY
    NVIDIA nForce4 SLI built-in Gigabit MAC w/external
    Marvell Gigabit LAN PHY supports:
    - NV Active Armor
    - NV Firewall
    - NV RIS (Remote Installation Service)
    - AI NET

Both the Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller and the NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller are recognized as hardware in the device manager. If I disable one of them and leave the other one going, I restart the computer and it recognizes it as new hardware and re-enables it sending me back to my multiple network adaptors...

Please help all, I really don't have a problem going through the steps to get the internet going, but my lady is not too computer literate and can't do it.

    Thank You!!

To disable a device go to device manager > rt click adapter > select Properties > "do not use this device ". That's how to do it in XP, probably similar in Vista. Disable the nVidia.
    Other:
Try turning OFF the nVidia firewall and also uninstall Nvidia Access Manager if necessary.

You can also disable one of the two from the BIOS.
