I have 3 computers connected to Cable Internet thru a Linksys Router. When trying to use Voice Conversation in MSN Messenger to other than my own computers, there is no mic signal even tho the mic test is OK. My son in Washington State using Dial-Up Internet conx has no problem with Voice Conversation with others using Dial-Up... Is my Router in the way, and/or is there a fix... Thanks.. Brendan

Yes, your router is in the way. You need to use "port forwarding" let the voice chat through.

If you want to use two computers at the same time for voice chat, and since you cannot forward the same port to two computers, you will have to put one of them in the DMZ...which, to oversimplyfy somewhat, essentially bypasses the router to let everything go directly to the DMZ'd computer...which means it is no longer protected by the router's firewall capabilities.

To get information on which ports need to be forwarded for MSN Messenger, go to this site.

How to use the router's DMZ and port forwarding features is covered in the user manual which came with the router....or you can get it online in pdf format from Linksys.
