Was wondering if anyone ever came up with a reason as to why the msinfo32
program started pointing to the "Help and Support" program? Mainly because
if its something an end-user can do, then i wont do that anymore.

I noticed this on my sys yesterday and a search showed several others have
had this happen. BTW the fix of "%1" did fix it on my system.

    thanks,

Never seen that Cliff. Try putting a shortcut to it on your desktop with the target as ....

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe "

    or go Start > Run > msinfo32.exe

    Hi PeteC,

    I put the "%1" into the Start>programs>accessories>system tools>
    system information properties under shortcut.

Its not something i use very often but when its needed, its nice to have it
    working right.

Was just trying to find out what caused it to start pointing to the help and
support screen instead of doing what its supposed to do.

My System Information opened Help and Support about 10 months ago.

Come to find out, my index.dat file was messed up in the OfflineCache folder.
    Located here> C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\OfflineCache

Only had about 2-3 lines in it when it should've been full.
I don't understand how most of that dat file was gone/erased.

I've cleaned dat files manually before that happened and use CCleaner now,
but after replacing that dat file I've had no problems with System Information.

I sent "larsonjean" a copy of my dat file(who had the same problem)and it
    fixed his problem too.
