I cannot "tick" any boxes on msconfig in normal user mode. I have adminstrator privleges. Can only use msconfig in safe mode. Any ideas? I try to minimise start up programs so use msconfig a lot. Please help. Roy

XP Professional. Totally confused as to why this is happening! Have very little software added to the system. Do have Norton Systemworks 2003. Could this be the problem? Also, is it easy to remove items from msconfig or do I have to go via the dreaded register? Roy

A better way to remove programs from start up can be found here.

I'm not sure why your msconfig won't work w/o safe mode. Gonna poke around a bit, and if I figure it out, I'll post back.
