Formerly, when I hover over Start-> Programs, the program menu would expand. Likewise, when I hover over a folder the Bookmarks menu in Firefox, it would also expand, .

I have a completely new system, on which I've installed XP SP3. Hovering over these menus now works only after long delay, otherwise I have to click on them to get them to expand.

I've tried Tweakui to change the hover time, and have also changed the mouse hover time value in the registry. Neither of these seem to have any effect at all, as if they're being overridden by something else.

IF I leave the mouse cursor on either of these menus for a slow count of 12, it will finally expand, no matter what I have either value set to.

Can anyone offer me pointers on how to get hovers to follow the timings I set for them?

Did you try this? H_KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Control Panel\Desktop In the right pane go to MemuShowDelay change the Value of 400 to 100 or any other lower value that you want. You may have to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

I did not know about that one, but it seems to have done the magic. Thanks!
