Happened after I changed the case, didnt bother trying to fix it then, that was a couple years ago... It's an Asus P4T-E

Here's what I've tried so far, I'm running out of ideas. Basically, everything is plugged in, but nothing happens when I hit the on switch. There is a light on the motherboard that turns on when the power supply is plugged into it.

-Grounding: Took out mobo from the case, put it back in, nothing. Set it up on a table, still nothing.

-Power supply: Tested the current supply with a tester, it seems ok. Swapped that one for another working supply and still nothing.

-Power switch: I used a different, working, switch, nothing. I tested the power switch headers with a multimeter and there seems to be 3.3v going through, which I'm guessing is a good sign.

-Components: took out video card, lan card, memory, etc, still nothing. Took out CPU, cleaned it up, put some new thermal paste on it, and put it back in, still nothing.

That's about all I can think of, did I forget to try anything?

    thanks a million

    -Sean

I assume you have got a hard drive connected with a fully installed OS. Did you ground yourself before touching any of the PCB's.

What is appearing (if anything) on the monitor.

Was it fully operational before the case was changed.

Can you here the hard drive start up when you switch on.

    Hey,

    I've always grounded myself.
Nothing at all appears on the motherboard.
The power supply doesn't power on as well.
Basically, I hit the power switch and nothing happens, at all.

I had a similar hitch on an upgrade I did changing a case and found that the wiring that comes from the front panel had a connector on it which which did fit the MOBO socket but the actual wires in the connector had to be rearranged.

You will have to check the pin outs on the MOBO to make sure they match the connection to the switch on the front panel.

hey, as I said in the first post, I wasn't even using the switch that came with th case, I just plugged a working one in, two pins on the mobo, two pins on the switches plug. I even tried putting a jumper on the mobo. Nothing happened.

Hi Sean, You had this problem 2 years ago and didn't fix it?

You said the comp was working OK until you swapped the case.
Does the M/B chassis LED still power on while nothing else works? No fans going?

I had a fault with a CPU which was intermittent initially - but then lights, fans all worked but the CPU had died. Fortunately I had another smaller capacity CPU which I was able to install and the comp fired up.

The CPU did not show any signs of overheating (never been O/C) so that colouration was not an indicator. It's the only thing I can suggest - you seem to have checked all other bases. Neil.
