Can anyone tell me if there is any way to set up my Windows XP computer (or monitor) so that when I turn off my computer (i.e., Start, Turn Off Computer/Turn Off) my monitor completely shuts off with no flashing lights on the monitor? Thank you very much.

I think it is up to the way the monitor is built. Mine turns on/off with the surge suppressor and my wife's turns on only with the monitor power switch.

I do the regular shut down and when the box goes off, I turn off the surge suppressor which turns off all my peripherals.:)

A power strip with a on-off switch. Or the switch on the monitor itself.
The power strip is the best deal. All power is removed from anything plugged in, no standby power is being used!
Those cheap (and overpriced) plastic surge protectors border on useless. All they are is a MOV (under a dollar) inside a plastic box with outlets and a on-off switch.
