Ok..now i have a problem..i bought a wireless adsl router for $20 at the markets..i thought it was a bargain and a answer to my problems as i run my xbox on live alot and i have the new wireless xbox so i thought this modem would be good! But the modem didnt come with a cd all the man said to me was that i could download what i needed of the net and that the password and username was admin and admin! Now when i connect the wireless to my computer it doesnt find it but my computer tells me that it is connected to the internet until i actually open my browser and it wont connect! I have tried a few things..that obviously havent worked! So now i dont know if i have wasted my money or if there is actually a way to get this modem running on my computer! I am now just running a modem with my ethernet cord! And i cant have my computers internet and my xbox internet at the same time as the usb wont work for my computer..thats another problem though im not real worried about that part!! I just want to be able to connect through the modem that i bought for $20 lol any ideas?? Or should i just not worry about it?

Hi Missa this is the support page for that modem

http://support.dlink.com.au/Default.asp You will need to select dsl (on the left) and g604t (on the right) then click go, you should find all the need to know on it, get back to me if you have any probs

I done it and its working now :) thank you so much for the link!! Now im so not aware of the wireless thing..with my new xbox will i have to have the cord in the back of it to run it on the internet?? As i have the new wireless kinnect xbox so will it just automatically connect to the modem without cords if i set the settings like that on the xbox itself?

    Step 1
Unpack the modem and its accessories. You should have the modem, cable, phone cord, power adapter, installation diskette or CD, and instruction manual.

    Step 2
Turn off the computer and any attached devices.

    Step 3
Attach one end of the modem cable to the serial port (wide, 25-pin connector) on the computer and the other end to the modem. The serial port on the Macintosh is a small, round port marked with a telephone icon.

    Step 4
Connect one end of the phone cord to the modem port marked "wall" or "line" and the other end to the wall jack of your phone line. If the modem will be sharing the line with a telephone, connect the cord of the telephone to the modem port marked "phone. "

    Step 5
Attach the power adapter plug to the modem and the power transformer plug to the power outlet, if this is required for your modem.

    Step 6
Turn on the computer and the modem, if it has an on/off switch.

    Step 7
When your computer starts up, follow the software installation instructions if prompted by your computer system (e.g., Windows Plug 'n Play feature).

    Step 8
Insert the installation diskette or CD (if you do not receive prompts for installing the modem), click the drive, and click (or double-click) the installation program on the diskette or CD.

    Step 9
Run any test program that comes with the installation software to ensure that the modem is working correctly.

Ok peoples im having serious problems with this modem!! It is giving me a really bad connection!! Good when it works, but it constantly shuts down on me..and i have to go back and reset the settings like 3 times a day for it to work!! Why wont the settings just stick?? I will be on my xbox online playing and it will freeze on me and than disconnect and i come to my computer to see the same thing...no connection!! So i go back in and reset the settings how Jac told me to and its fine again..until it goes once again!!

    Hi Missa,
has me a bit perplexed to the problem, but it sounds as thought there maybe a fault in the unit, or there is a lot of interference, possible fix is change the channel it is operating on, a friend has similar problems but on a different make.
if that doesn't remedy the problem, you can pick up a good Netgear DG834 on ebay from $40 upwards, great modem/router in my books, worked in every room in my house plus connected to the computer in the shed (about 30m away with the doors shut), now installed at the inlaws with no drama's and set up similarly.

yeah that was my thought..that the modem actually has a problem!! I went into the 10.1.1.1 thing and instead of going the way you told me to do it i actually ran the wizard instead..i havent had a problem with it yet but if i do i think i will just buy another modem!!Im actually running my computer and two xbox's off it at the moment and it hasnt crashed so maybe i did something right for once! Well im hoping anyway :)!!

Sounds good, give it a week before you look for a new one, that way you know it's the way to go!
    Thumbs Up!

Sorry to hear it is still playing up, as I suggested the Netgear is my favourite, so keep an eye on the price, maybe someone else may like to add the 2 bobs worth about a decent one?

Hi missa85, I was upgraded by Telecom to a Thomson ADSL2 (Wireless capable) Router which works well on Home cable network and also my Laptop with wireless card.
Prior to that I had D-Link DSL-504T. I also used our original Telecom connections and had to install filters on all phone jacks. I don't know whether that has been part of your problem with interference? Cheers Neil.
