I purchased a Rock Mobile Disk (500 g) for my sister's notebook because the Drive C only had 4g of space. She has many pictures on the DRive C. What is the smartest way to convert all info on Drive C to the F Drive (which is the 500g mobile disk)? I guess, I really want to put all info, except os, onto Drive F and use that as primary drive. Is this possible and if so, please give me step by step process. Many thanks....

You could only use an external drive for holding the user's documents or maybe installing programs there if it is an eSATA connection. A USB or Firewire connection is not practical. Of course, if you install programs on an external drive and it is disconnected, the programs won't work and may cause problems in the registry.

My suggestion would be to use it as storage for the user's documents. Copy the files from her My Documents folder to the external drive. Check the files are all working, then delete them from the My Documents folder. You still need a backup in case the external drive fails, so burn a copy onto DVDs.
