I am using XP Home, SP2. I've been having trouble viewing stationery (not a big problem, really) for a long time now...before I installed SP2 which was a few months after they first introduced it and I ordered it on CD(I wanted to wait to see what others ran into before installing).

Usually when stationery is posted in a newsgroup, I can see certain things such as images, marquees, that sort of things but generally the backgrounds and sometimes the midis come as attachments. No problem clicking on the attachment to view or hear, but it's the fact that it's not showing correctly that started my looking for answers. I've been to several help forums and help groups and been run through the usual steps trying to correct it. Nothing anyone has suggested has worked. The other day a question was brought up about add-ons. The person who brought it up also suggested that my problem might be there. I posted my screenshots of my add-ons tabs (those being used and those that have been used by IE). The lack of HTML Document seemed to be a concern for some. They think that may be why I can't view stats correctly. They think that perhaps Spybot or Adaware or something similar may have at some point gotten rid of it but no one in that select group has suggested how I can get it back. Do any of you think that's a possibility and do you know how I can correct this? All updates have been applied and I've run sf /scannow without anything showing up as missing or corrupt. It's my understanding that these add-ons are EXTRAS or ENHANCEMENTS. Shouldn't OE display stats correctly without them? This may also help--I cannot see the change when I change my font colors or sizes. Though when I post them, others can. When I download my posts in newsgroups , I still can't see them. Also the font itself--regardless of what I change it to--reverts back to Arial Rounded MT Bold once I commence typing. Long-winded, I know, but I thought perhaps all these facts might help someone point me in the direction to go...can't tell you all the things I've tried as my memory isn't worth beans and it's been over a long period of time off and on, but I've tried everything knowledgeable people have suggested--patches, fixes, Letterman's, etc...anything at all short of reinstalling or reformating I'm willing to try. I've no one here to help me if I ***** this machine up.<G> I can live with it not displaying correctly but it'd be nice not to have to. Thanks.

    Woo-hoo! Found it!

People in here have been so kind--that's what keeps me coming back whenever I have a computer problem. However, sometimes you just don't get a quick answer. Therefore, I went looking by using the search function...and FOUND the answer! <G> Thought I'd share it with you so that the next time someone posts a problem about not being able to change/view fonts/colors in OE, you'll have a ready answer.

I credit Daisy(SuperGeek) with the answer to this one. http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=3734

"Go to Internet Options from Control Panel and click the Accessibility button on the General tab.

Uncheck the three check boxes labeled Ignore colors specified on Web pages, Ignore font styles specified on Web pages, and Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages.

Click ok, click ok again, and then restart Outlook Express. You should now be able to access all formatting features for rich text messages "

I've been hunting the answer to this problem for about a year...and found it in a thread from 2002! Thanks, BBS...
