    HI there,
My computer did a back-flip on Thursday. When I wanted to start up, nothing happened, apart from the pc trying very hard to do just that. I received the advise to buy a new hard disk, install Windows XP on it ( as was my other OS), set the new harddrive as the primary disk and old one as the slave, and boot the computer with the XP on the new harddrive. It worked very well.
The old disk still has all it's original files and programs installed on it, and some of them have been duplicated on the new harddrive. XP, in other words, are now twice installed as well.

<My first problem: I have read a previous post on this Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library-subject and would like someone to assist me with a similar problem. I have done the HijackThis scan and include the results here:

I also encountered another problem after re-installing XP
On email and Internet activities (logging in) a window pops up warning me that the computer will close down in 30 seconds and I should close everything. On the automatic reboot I get the message:
" LSA Shell ( Export Version) encountered a problem and needed to close"

It was suggested to me to go to Start --> Run and type in " shutdown -a" to prevent the shutdown, and I had to do it to be able to come to this forum.

My third problem: I lost the Fax Service - it needs service pack 1 to be enabled again. I tried to download it from the Microsoft site but couldn't. The download could not happen. I used the Fax Service quite sucessfully since I had XP installed on my pc some years back. The new hardrive, apparently, does not regognize these updates on the old harddrive.

Fourth problem: I reinstalled my printer, for instance, and it's not working.

I will appreciate any help I can get.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

    Best wishes
    Maggie

You have the blaster worm, removal tool at the below link.
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html

You'll need to install this patch after removal.

" LSA Shell ( Export Version) encountered a problem and needed to close" is another worm.
This is the unfortunate result of connecting XP SP1 to the internet without a firewall. In less than 10 seconds you were infected by blaster (mslaugh.exe) and this other thing.

To abort the shut down, click Start, click Run and type "shutdown -a "
    (without quotations) and press OK.

Install this to fix the security hole.

You should visit this site, and use the Auto clean option for the AV scan.
    RAV Online Scan

Service Pack 1 for XP is no longer available for download, however SP2 is.

You could order the free CD, and get it via snail mail.
