Decided to check for updates at the Microsoft Updates site and was informed that there are seven high-priority security updates for 2007 Microsoft Office system for me to download. The thing is I'm still running Office 2000 on this computer and the only 2007 app I have on the computer is the Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007. Should I download all these 2007 updates or mark them as "Don't show this update again" ?

Hi Tsimmes. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

I would go ahead and install the updates. They won't do any harm. If you decide that you don't need them you can always go into Control Panel< Add/Remove Programs and remove them.

For reasons best known to MS you will be offered Office 2007 updates although you are running an earlier version - AFAIK the updates are for core components which are common to earlier versions too. I run 2003 and get updates for 2007 which install OK.

If the update is not required on your system you will be notified on installation.
