Meter program

I’m looking for a program to monitor the amount of bytes (upload/download) on my internet connection. That’s because here, we have a quota for the traffic, upload and download. So, I need to verify how much I am consuming during my connections, so I don’t get ripped off by the providers. Does anybody know of a program that does that? Free would be even better, of course.

A number of years ago I used a great little programme called DU Meter. I think it's only shareware. But should have a trial period. Other freeware programmes with perhaps less functionality should be available on the net.

Another good utility: Uptimer

A bar sits at the top of your screen and can display over 20 pieces of system information that might be useful to you. System time, system date, uptime, free RAM, free pagefile, free disk space, CPU usage, IP address(es), Winamp controls, battery status, running programs, netstat, etc.
