Memory Dump - General Question

I'm running WinXP Home on an Intel 1.7 w/ 512 MB RAM. I have Norton Antivirus 2003 and ran the aurto update, which installed a new driver. After the reboot I got a memory dump....first time ever.
I'm wondering how serious these are, as I've never had one before. I ran a chkdsk and everything seems square. Any insight would be appreciated.

No big deal. These just dump the memory to disk for further diagnostics. You should check your Event Viewer to see what went wrong, unless all is working. Then, just forget it.

If you continue to get them, you may want to investigate further. It is almost always due to a device driver.

These dump files can begin to take up a lot of space after a while. You can disable the dumps, make for small dumps, or leave as is, in Computer Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery.

When you have your problems resolved, do a search for the dumps (*.dmp) and delete them all.
