Everytime I start up in XP the c-media mixer appears, so I assume its running all the time. How can I stop this, I never use it. Lorna.

The C-Media "mixer" replaces the sound control when the sound card driver is installed. Just use that instead of the usual volume control.

It will be reinstalled every time you update the driver at Windows Update, so I guess you may as well get used to using it. It seems to work fine for me.

Just turn off your regular volume control in the settings to remove the extra icon from the tray.
