    I use Windows XP & IE7.

When I select a specific site from my Favourites in IE7 (& previous versions), the site displays completly maximised.

Using exactly the same URL I created a shortcut on my desktop, but when selecting from that, the site displays much smaller and I have to maximise each time.

I use the desktop shortcuts as I access 2 sites quite regulary.

Where is my problem - Windows or IE7 and how can I fix the shortcut to ensure full auto maximisation.

    Many thanks

Right click the shortcut, left click Properties. Choose "Maximized" in the drop-down list, click OK. See if that does the trick.

Reply: Many thanks for prompt response. The problem seems to be that I can only do that if the Shortcut is to a programme in the PC. Where one wants a Shortcut to a web site, http://www. etc etc there is no Shortcut properties tab (within the properties selection) to choose "maximised" as you can normally.

    Interesting situation.

    Thanks again

Of course, you're correct. I never checked, just assumed it would be the same as any other shortcut.

So try this, which may or may not work but it's worth a shot:
    1. Open Internet Explorer to a page with links
    2. Right click a link, left click "Open in new window "
    3. If the new window opens half-size, use the mouse to stretch it to full size. Don't use the Maximize button.
    4. Close the original window first. It's important that you close the original window first.
    5. Close the window you resized

Now try one of the shortcuts and see if it opens full size.

Hey - that is amazing - yep it worked. I also restarted Windows and it still worked. The logic fails me but after all this time I am most appreciative of your help.

Don't go far I may need more help at some time.

    Thanks

Thanks for letting me know it worked.

Internet Explorer has always had a problem with secondary windows. Those steps are the only way I've found to make sure all secondary windows open full size. The logic behind making it necessary to have links open full size fails me, too. ;)

If you ever forget and click the Maximize button and that window is the last IE window you close, you'll probably have to do those steps all over again, though.
