Solved malware help please

    well, i don't what has happened exactly, but i have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled mcafee and i haven't had the error message come back up. i would still like to know why?? but it seems the problem is fixed!!

    i can't thankyou enough for the advice and suggestions. many thanks to you for giving over your time in this!! :) :)

    That's great! :D

    Based on the event logs section of the DDS scan, you've got a number of system files that need replaced and failed to with sfc. If you continue to have problems with anything else, you may need to get your hands on an XP cd and do a repair install or even a clean install. At the least, reconfiguring sfc to prompt for the disc and allow the files to be replaced.

    ..but just one last question: is it easy to configure sfc to pull out the files that are corrupted for an xp cd to repair, ie is it relatively intuitive for a beginner??

    It's very easy. Click Start>Run and type sfc /scannow then hit Enter.
    That will start the System File Checker.
    You will be prompted to insert the XP cd if required.
    sfc will finish on it's own.
    The cd should be removed and the computer restarted when done.
