I was directed to post in this forum, but if I'm still in the wrong forum, please advise.

Where can I find detailed instructions on how to make compilation CDR's (I'm using Prassi Primo Plus 2.0 software)? I'm new to all this and I don't know if there is a general procedure used by all burning software or it's specific to each kind. The "Help" section with my software assumes you are pretty computer literate and I'm just so so, also the instructions are not very self explanatory. I have no problems burning disc to disc copies, but I just don't understand how to make compilations.

Is there another website I should be asking these questions on?
    Thanks!

    Mike

As I mentioned in your other post, I'm not familiar with this particular software so cannot offer you any specific help. However, similar applications tend to have a "Compile a CD" button on the toolbar. All you do is click this button, select (or drag) the tracks that you wish to copy, pop in a CD-R, click "burn" and Bob's your uncle. It's generally fairly straightforward.

Thanks for the responses, but I am so embarrassed to have to ask to have this explained further. See, I am still trying to learn even the most basic of computer operations.

You seem to be saying I have to drag my music files from a folder into the burner software, but how do I actually get my music into the folder (yes it's a stupid question I know)?

For instance, say I have 3 music cd's I would like to be able to draw from to make a compilation, how do I get them into a folder?I know I must load each cd into the drive one at a time, but then how do I get each music cd from the drive into a folder? And would I want a different folder for each music cd or would all 3 cd's be lumped together in one folder?

Assuming I can do the above, are one or all of the folders dragged into the burner software or just individual tracks?

You can see how this is probably just routine computer knowledge I'm still trying to learn. Does anyone have the patience to explain further? Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the software either but most with the programs I've used you just select the songs you want off each cd and click the burn button (or whatever) and the software will prompt you to insert each individual cd when it needs it. No need to copy it to a folder on your puter.

Easiest, I think, to "rip" the tracks off the CDs. Burning from a harddrive is more reliable than burning from a CD drive. It's the only way if you only have one CD drive and it's the burner. :)

Here's a great explanation of Ripping Tracks. What it is, how it's done and links to various programs that will do it for you.

Thanks everyone, I know you have provided excellent info, but I guess I will have to find someone to come over to my house and walk me through this. Wave files, etc. is all kind of greek to me, but I appreciate you trying to educate me.
