hi, I have recently bought myself AOL Broadband, and for a week it all worked fine. But I got some kind of virus which moved stuff around and I ended up needing to re-install AOL in order to go online.
The problem is that the DSL light on my modem will not light up. I tried reinstalling the modem [even though the drivers seem to still be on there] But at the end of the installation it says:

"EXPLORER NOT INSTALLED. The installation did not find Internet Explorer installed please install it and rerun this installation "

So I tried downloading IE6 [using dialup] can't find it. So I DLL'd the IE6 SP1 and when I tried installing it, it told me I already had a newer version on my PC. I'm stumped.

AOL wont help me, Microsoft charge 40 quid to email them!!!!!!!???!!!! and I lost my XP disc.

I was thinking of DLLing WinXP SP2 [just the SP2 bit] although I have already installed it and it will take ages. The thing that p*ss*d me of the most is that I stilll have to pay for my broadband connection and I haven't even used it yet. Please help.

    Cheers

Then start => run => cmd and when the cmd window opens,
    Code:
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
You will have to set up networking again since that zeros the settings.

You probably also need to do a system file check to scan for and replace any missing or damaged system files from the infection but that will require either an XP CD or a folder on the PC named I386 that contains all the system files - assuming your PC was installed that way.

It sounds like you got on the internet without good AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection so it should take about 3 minutes to blow your system up again after you get reconnected.
