There is a new mail delay with my system. Both on sent items, and received. I even just ran a test from me, to me. 5 minutes still not there. That is always instant. I was on the phone with my wife at work, and my dad at home, and sent them mail. It took 15 minutes to get it to them. My wife sent me mail, and same delay. This is all new. Anyone know why ?

I have OE with Windows ME. I am not sure what OE version I have. How do I find that out. (I was going to try some patches I found on this site, but I don't know which to use without the correct OE version.) Thanks

Right click the "My Computer Icon" on your desktop. Select "Properties" and it should stare you in the face with the OS and version. Try that.

If this delay is recent it may well be due to the well publicised worms that are slowing down the Internet.

To find your version of OE, in OE > Help > About Outlook Express.

chetdoug--You don't have to be infected to experience the slowdown. It is your ISP's server that is overburdened with the increased traffic. If you are paying for your ISP, phone them and let them know.
In any event, you should have an antivirus program installed on your PC, updated with most recent virus definition files, and running in the background. If not, suggest you do so now, and then run a scan. Alternative is to run an online scan (free) from
    http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/
However, using that service means you allow a virus to get on your PC in the first place.
