I am setting up a new laptop (Windows 7) and to connect to the 'net wirelessly I need to put in the network security key. The one I have noted down is the router password , which apparently is not what is required.
I have another laptop (Vista) which is wirelessly connected and working Ok but I can't persuade it to show the password.
If I can't find it in the system of the other laptop, or in my desktop( which is cable connected, not wirelessly to the Netgear router ), maybe I shall have to set up a new network ?

The new Netgear router my office installed last week shows what the password is once you log in. Have you tried that?

Your manual should show you how to reset the router back to factiry that would allow you to start over.

I logged into my router and then reset the password to a new one. It still works for the PC after doing that, and also works for my other (older) laptop - without changing anything there ; which suggests that the wireless network security key is something different from the router password (?). But in any case, that new router password is rejected by the new laptop.

Aha - I solved it from my other laptop by looking at the wireless connection there which took me to a page of my router site which showed the pw (key).

    Thanks anyway !
