I used to have an icon at the bottom of my pictures that lead me to a page where I could change the size of the picture, easily, using %'s. It's gone. I have my XP disc but am not sure if reinstalling is a good idea. I also get a couple of missing files and it doesn't find the printer, although it prints fine, when I restart. I have XP HE, 2002. The place that built this is out of business. Any help, in simple language please, will be appreciated. Thanks

    Try this first:
    Start > Run > cmd
    sfc /scannow
    have your XP cd.

sfc - system file checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

If you want to see what was replaced, right click My Computer > manage, expand event viewer > system.

and for grins and giggles, download and install Spybot update it, run it and let it delete all that it wants to.

    For the printer,
Unplug and disconnect printer, reboot, reconnect power and to computer during Windows splash screen and let XP "find it ".

    If that doesn't help,
go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Mgr
Look for any yellow exclamation points in triangles
Locate your printer (click the + to open up the file tree) then right click and choose properties. On the "General" tab is the option to troubleshoot. On the "Driver" tab you can let XP look for a "better driver ", or you can point XP to your printer software (either the cd that came with the printer, or new drivers you downloaded directly from the manufacturer) and reinstall it. (You can probably get away without uninstalling the old software in this case)
