    Hi,
I have lost my task bar at the bottom of my window. Moving the cursor down to retrieve it doesn't help, it just disappears. I can press ctrl-Esc and get it, but I need it back as it is a hassle to get the way I have to now. Any suggestions?

    Larry Hi

Check your task bar settings ,, start > settings > taskbar and start menu settings.

"Moving the cursor down to retrieve it doesn't help...." Could mean one of two things. It won't reappear when the cursor hovers over where it should be or you can't drag it back into view.

If it's the first, try the second. Hover the cursor at the bottom edge of the screen until it turns into a two-headed arrow then press and hold the left mouse button and drag the task bar back up into view.

Thanks, but neither one worked....I think it may have something to do with registry or something.

How long has this been happening and what changes have you made prior to noticing the symtom
Any other problems even if they seam unrelated.
Have you used some third party desktop management program ?
Maybe use the monitor controls ? in other words the taskbar may just be hidden from view.

When you right click on the taskbar>properties is the 'always on top' box checked and 'auto hide' unchecked? And what makes you think there is a registry problem?

Boot to a dos prompt and at the prompt type scanreg /restore . Then pick a date in the list that pre-dates when the problem occurred. Hopefully there'll be one.
