hi there i would just like to thank PETE C. for his quick response and invaluble info, I downloaded the sound drivers and installed as you advised,However on checking in the device manager the multimedia audio device no longer had a question mark against it but an exclamation mark, on further investigation the driver hadnt assigned correctly due to a missing gm16.dls file or simillar ,Haveing browsed the web it was so called common knowledge that this driver was not on the windows 98cd. i decided to just follow the prompts as per the re install, driver routine and there infront of my eyes it told me that to find gm16dls insert disc find CAB 13 which turned out to be in the windows 98 folder and clk ok. the audio drives assighned and now i have SOUND ,BLASTING OUT SONIC THE HEDGEHOG my son is very happy. PCI AND UNKNOWN DEVICE STILL NO DRIVERS BUT IM NOT WORRIED> MANY THANKS.

    Hi Harvo,

You may find the PCI and Unknown device are related to an analogue modem.

How do you connect to the internet?
