Lost profiles

I have lost 3 of my 5 profiles. I am using windows xp. What should I do.

 

I want to make sure that I understand what you mean. Some people refer call profiles what are, actually, mail accounts. A profile is part of the program which is tucked in a hidden place in . A profile has its own bookmarks.html, address book (abook.mab) files, and many more. and also a Mail folder. Did you create five profiles with different names, or are you using what is given you, i.e. the default profile, and set up five mail accounts?
No, please, provide some information. You did not say anything like when this happened, i.e. was it sudden, or you upgraded. In any case it is important to know what you mean.

I actually created 5 profiles because my computer is used by family which include my wife and three children.

 

When It happen

I have been using this netscape 7.2 for a while and all the sudden I have discovered that it went missing since yesterday.

Have your checked your Profiles folder on the HD to see if the Profiles are still listed there? If so you can replace the prefs.js file for each of the missing Profiles from a recent backup, and this should restore the three Profiles.

Restore profiles

I found the profiles in the application data but I don't have back up prefs so what must I do.

Create new Profiles, then copy the information from the old Profiles to the new. See this page for a guideline: Create New Profile

Do this for each Profile.

problem solved

I have manage to get my profiles back. However I got them back the moment I create it using the same old profile names without having to copy the any files as I discovered that it automatically link to the existing old profile with the same name. Thanks
