Resolved Lost printer on network

    I have a printer that was set up on my network and all was configured correctly so that anyone of our three computers could print to it. For whatever reason now nobody can connect to the printer.

    The internet goes into a Dlink Router and from there into a Dlink switch. The printer and all computers and a NAS connect to the switch.

    We can connect to all shared folders on other computers on the network as well as those on the Dlink 323 NAS but not the printer.

    I now notice that I cannot log into the dlink router with the default IP of 192.168.0.1 any longer.

    IPCONFIG says
    IP Address 192.168.16.234
    Sunet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway is 192.168.16.1

    I can ping both addresses successfully but thinking that the Default Gateway is the router's address, I cannot log into it

    IPCONFIG /all says
    IP Address 192.168.16.234
    Sunet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway is 192.168.16.1
    DHCP Server 192.168.17.1
    DNS Servers 198.168.30.2 and 198.164.4.2

    There have been no changes made by anyone here. Can a router somehow mess up and loose the default IP?

    Is the best way to handle this, reset the router to factory default?

    Might resetting the router restore the connection to the printer address?

    Try 192.168.17.1 to login to the router.
    If no joy, use the router reset button to return it to its defaults.
    Once you straighten out the router, login to the printer's Web interface and set it up with a static IP address.

    In the end, it turns out that the IP address on the printer was actually different to the one set in the computers. I also changed the IP address to static.

    It was made difficult as I was working remotely with the user however, we got it working
