    ASUS T100TA Win 8.1 32-bit
    Baffled. Weeks back started having major problems which led me to a complete reset. Since then I have had no internal speakers on this notebook. 1) Device manager - Audio inputs and outputs - no listing for the Intel SST Audio Device WDM (both for Audio and microphone) - Only listing is for SOG headphones 2) Noticed (don't ever remember seeing this before) A new listing under Other Devices. Two items are listed the first is "headset" with this info

    Device BTHENUM\{00001131-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&000f\6&1d18499&0&0058768A069D_C00000000 was configured.

    Driver Name: null
    Class Guid: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
    Driver Date:
    Driver Version:
    Driver Provider:
    Driver Section:
    Driver Rank: 0x0
    Matching Device Id:
    Outranked Drivers:
    Device Updated: false

    The second is "Unknown" with the yellow exclamation mark. Troubleshoot and it cannot identify itself, so no way to find it a driver. Here is the info for this device:
    ACPI\80860F28\1

    Device ACPI\80860F28\1 was deleted.

    Class Guid: {4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Is this the problem? What is the fix or is a chip or something fried on the board? This a non critical prob - more of a nuisance.

    Naw - It came outta the box preloaded and access to their site. Before you go there ... yes I reloaded about every thing ... again. Turned off, tried, turned on, this and that (add-ons) etc... What little I have read ACPI has something to do with a call in the programming code to a MS command.

    Also if the OS (Win 8.1) cannot identify the device.. Is there anyway to identify it with out cracking the notebook open and voiding the warrant? Being overseas is bad sometimes .. If I was in the US I would drop it at their service center and let them make it right.

    OK - either the wrong driver or .....

    Try a direct download of the audio driver from ASUS here - Realtek

    Sorry - no further suggestions, although hardware failure seems rather unlikely - yet possible.

    Have to bow out of this thread now as leaving within the hour for Iceland.

    For Others: After over three weeks, PeteC helped me find the solution. Whether he knows or knew what the exact problem and fix was I can not say, but He solved it :)!!! He gave me a 'try this'. His link wasn't the right one but it made me look in the correct direction. The solve for my missing internal speakers turned out to be a Chipset problem. Seems when I did a reset, the ASUS download/update on the re-installation, installed a different SOC Drive Package than was being used on this notebook. The one they sent that was downloaded and installing was the correct - according to their word (Tech Support)... however it was INCORRECT. When I downloaded their upgrade (motherboard/hardware) Chipset and drivers package - (out of a what the hell give it a try moment), it ran, installed and guess what, the internal speakers and drivers magically reappeared! Jeesh - almost a month to figure this out
