    Hi!

I thought I would pop in here and ask all you fine folks a few questions.

My daughter, at someone else's place, used a program they had within Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition. It was called PhotoStory. Apparently, it creates a wonderful slideshow of pics accompanied by either music or voice. She said it was nice because she could create an emailable slideshow for those of us here with broadband and a 5000K size limit.

She asked me if I was aware of it and also if I knew of anything with better effects than PhotoStory had. I looked into it and performed all manner of searches looking for something she might enjoy.

Alas, I could find nothing other than something made by Magix which seems to be geared more for the creation of CDs than anything emailable.

While on this subject, I am told that MS PhotoStory uses wav files and since a lot of music is available in MP3 format, I also need to look for is something that not only converts MP3 to wav format but possibly has the ability for one to "trim" off a desired amount of a wav file such that, during a presentation, a desired length of wav would cycle over and over again.

Three things I'd like to hear from someone about:

A program like PhotoStory but perhaps has better effects???.....also a program that can convert MP3 to wav........also something to take a wav file and cut out a desired piece of it for use in programs like these.

I read somewhere that PowerPoint, which we have, is well fitted for slideshows but we need something that uses Windows Media Player so that others who don't have PowerPoint can view the shows emailed to them.

As usual, I fear I have somewhat cluttered this post but does anyone know of anything along the lines of these 3 things we seek???

Naturally, free and exhaustive programs would be best but reality is that we are more than willing to purchase something if it's what we are looking for.

Thanx to all of you for your patince with me and thanx in advance for your replies.

    Randy

    chameleon,

Check out SnapFiles. It used to be called 'WebAttack'. New name - same great place.

Check both the Freeware and Shareware sides. Chances are very good that you can find just what you're looking for on one of them.

IMHO, SnapFiles should be in everyone's 'Favs' folder. It is a truly wonderful resource. :D

    HTH

    Mike,

Great site you posted, my friend!

You're not kidding about everyone having this as a fav.

I shall peruse this site in detail a bit later as I have to step out for the day in a while.

Thank you for the input! Loads of cool apps here from what I see at first glance. ;)

As always, any positive replies are appreciated more than you know. :)

All Kinds of converters available. And I don't know if it has more options, but Photodex will create executable email attachments and CD's. No other supporting program required.

    indutch & noahdfear,

Thank you are not words enough to express our gratitude for your replies. :)

My daughter is working with the Photodex trial program as I write this and has already sent me a quickly engineered slideshow that worked tickety-boo. She is going to experiment with the program more deeply and I think she will end up buying it.

SnapFiles is a site that i will be spending a great deal of time on in the very near future. There looks to be some really neat stuff there.

Once again, thank you very much for coming through for us.

There are just so many cool people on this forum, it never ceases to amaze me.

    Always indebted to you all...
