I recently updated to both Firefox 2.0 and IE7. I'm thinking that maybe that wasn't such a good idea. Now, my laptop takes maybe 20-30 seconds longer to boot up. It was fine while I had only updated Firefox, so it seems that maybe IE7 is the cause.

I've already freed up as much space as I can, ran virus scans, ad-aware, and defragemented my computer. So is there anything else I can do? Or is this just a sign my 10-month old laptop is heading into old age? :) In which case I'll deal with it, but if something can be done to improve the situation...I'll do it. I kind of want to keep my laptop for as long as possible and operating at a fairly efficient level. :)

If it helps any, I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A55 that says it's system type is an X86-based PC. Whatever that means. :D According to my System Properties, I have an Intel Celeron M processor of 1.60 GHz and 504 MB of RAM. I have a vague grasp of what that means...to me it means that my laptop is faster than my dad's and sister's PCs.

If any other information is needed, I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can!

Use Device Manager and disable, not uninstall, any unused Network Adapters.

In Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings, uncheck every box on the page.

If you use a Proxy server, on the Advanced page, disable both HTTP 1.1 settings.

    Reboot and test.

    Thanks for the reply!

I checked my LAN settings, and all the boxes are unchecked. I also disabled my LAN network adapter (since I don't really use that). It still is a little slow to boot up, but it's not as bad as before. :) Thank you!
