I have WinXP, SP2, and was using FF2.0.0.3. I believe that I had said before that although I had a check mark to remember username/password at this site, which I never logoff, every morning the information is forgotten. The information is never forgotten for the rest of the day, even though I exit my computer.
Not bad, for security reasons. I don't save info from a bank, although there is that option. But, at this site a check mark means nothing. It is gone the moment that I login. Of course, there is no password in the password manager.
Where am I getting to, you may wonder. I was doing the inevitable, and, after typing three of my password letters, Firefox crashed. Is this added security?
I checked my cookies, and there is a zillion of them for WindowsBBS. The one for password expired today, at the same time that I logged in, and so do most of my windowsbbs cookies.
I would be delighted to logoff, if this is the new way. But crashing is a bit too much.
By the way, I don't remember the last time that any Firefox crashed.

Although I'm not a Firefox user, I'd like to put my name under the 'annoyance' banner. I have the devil's own time staying logged on here. I log on, click on the "you have [x] unread posts" link, and am immediately booted out and have to log on again. I read a thread, go back to the previous page, and am logged out. I post a message like this one and am logged out. I perform a search and am logged out. It's... tiring.

I'm beginning to think that that "remember me" tickbox actually stands for "remember to log me out every I time I do something ". ;)

Aside from that, though, great site!

    Westside ...

I seem to remember that you wrote about this same problem less than a month ago. At the time, I suggested that you use the bookmarklet that I use, which will force FF to remember your passwords, if you desire. I use it to remember my passwords on Yahoo mail and Gmail, and it keeps me permanently logged in on the BBS.

There is also an "Always Remember Password" extension which will do the same thing. The bookmarklet referred to in my first paragraph can be accessed from the extension page.

    Jim,
I "installed" the bookmarklet twice, to no avail. There are three sites which do not keep me logged in, another one requires me to click on the enter (the information is there, but I am logged out. This site, and myway.com/my page do not save the password information, and present me with blank boxes. The problem with WindowsBBS was periodic in the old days, prior to Firefox, but it is a daily occurrence, and, as I said all the password/id cookies expire the moment they are entered. A few other cookies expire at the end of the session. Others last for long time.
But I will try the extention.

Sounds as though you have other issues with your computer that keep the bookmarklet from working. Perhaps it's time to format and reinstall everything.
