I tried a search but nothing came up that answered this. I think I can explain this accurately.

I receive an email that has links to sites, such as a link to a joke, is it possible to get a virus when clicking on that link? This is not an attachment. I have Norton AV.

    LadyLuck,

The simple answer is - No

Clicking on a link in OE is the same as typing that link into IE and hitting the Go button.

PeteC, That makes me feel a little better. Norton found a virus and I thought that's how I got it. I never open attachments without scanning them first.

    Thanks for your response

Norton will sometimes tag any "unfriendly" code contained in a web page as being either a virus or (more often) a trojan. Should the "virus" have been located in your TIF, then it's probably the case that you have visited a page which included code designed to exploit one of the older (and now plugged) IE vulnerabilities.
