I have always used OE for my email, and have recently switched over to Outook. I am finding a couple of things that I miss that are in OE. One of them being able to only print selected highlighted sections and the other I have just come across is When I put a link address in Outlook, it does not change color like in OE and does not come up as a clickable link. Is there a workaround for this?

What do you have set that I may not have? Also I am using 2003.

Nothing I can think of, it should work with no added configurations. I am using Outlook 2007 in Vista 32 bit Business.

    Hi,

In Outlook Tools > Options > Mail Format tab & make sure you have HTML selected as your Message format.

*Note that this is from OL 2007, but I *think* it's the same in OL 2003.

I discovered a long time ago that you need to input something after placing the Link -- a space and then a character or a Paragraph marker (Return key) -- before it changes to a "clickable" link.

The other problem irritates me also. The abilitiy to print selected segments is all important. My solution is to cut and paste into another program (normally MS Word) to get a Print -- adding to the irritation factor.

I have tried that, and still no luck. Also just found out that it doesn't get received as a clickable link either.

This another reason why I like OE also.

    Yo, Arie-

    Here is another good one:

I have several Contacts books. I display them as Detailed Address Cards, and I print 8" x 5-1/2" pages, double-sided to use at my desk. Now for the past few weeks, if I want to print a new contact or a revised card to tape over the printed one in the book, I get "Microsoft Outlook has Stopped Working" and it closes. I have seen other reports of this.

    Any advice?

Makes you wonder why we are using such an expensive program when we can get almost as much out of Open Office. I have been seriously thinking about trying it, I don't remember having this much trouble with XP version.

What part of Open Office replicates Outlook?

Not even sure, but it is supposed to be close to Office, so I just assumed that it has a section in it like Outlook.

How do you "put a link address in Outlook "? Please give an example.

I think that Dakota is merely describing putting a URL into a message. We all do it all the time, e.g., telling a friend or colleague about an article, where to get software, etc.

The method I was referring to (I am not the OP, however) is highlighting the Address in IE and then using Cut & Paste into an open Outlook document.

FWIW, I have never had a problem using the Hyperlink Menu function in Outlook (except in that it is a little complicated... uh, time-consuming).

Exactly.... Highlighting a link that is in the address bar and copy and past into an email. Even writing down a email address, same thing. I am going back to OE for my mail anyway, for those reasons, I like it better. I like the rest of Outlook, but those cause too much trouble.

    Thanks guys

Well, it isn't normal behavior for Outlook, but since you decided to stop using it....

I would like to use it though. Just don't like those features. Should be able to put clickable links in the body.
