i have a lynksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G, 2 desktops connected by wire, and 2 laptops connected wireless. The laptops are running XP home edition. One of the laptops sometimes loses conection a gets a limited connectivity status but after reseting the router it regains conectivity. However, the sencond one, a dell inspirion, once it gets on the limited connectivity status i cannot get it to conect again. The only solution so far has been to reinstall the OS but wtih this it is 3 times already and it is getting tiresome to solve the problem this way. The problem seems to be with the laptop, as resetting the OS solves the problem, however the router seems to be part of the problem. I have a dlink router at another location and the laptop connects fine there. Any ideas?

    Wireless Connectivity Problems

    lynksys ?
Try changing the channel from the default 6 to 1 or 11 as a start.
Make sure that the router is high and clear of obstructions especially metal or dense objects.
If you have a dsl connection at this location set it to keep logging on ( whatever the setting is rather than on demand)
It is usually a case of interference from other routers and it does not take much.
Netstumbler is a help at finding rogue signals.
It may be the router- the latest version of the wrt54g router ( version 5) is a major departure from the previous versions. It was an attempt to cut costs on volume.

version 5 gets very poor marks.
You might do a firmware upgrade from Linksys but I would wait until your other options have been checked out.

    This worked for me

I had this problem of Limited Connectivity.

In my case, it was a result of removing some adware.

As I understand it, some adware slot into the socket for the TTC/IP connection in order to divert information.

If you think of it as a pipe , the adware replaces a straight pipe with a T shaped pipe to allow them to siphon off data.

Some Spyware & adware removal software, rip out the problem T pipe without reconnecting the original.

I got a little free program called WinsockFix http://windowsxp.mvps.org/winsock.htm that puts the TTC/IP socket back as microsoft built it .

This may not be your problem, but it worked for me
