I built a new computer using an 800 MHz Intel board, 512 RAM and P4, and a 250 Gig Maxtor HDD. But the system only recognises 127 Gig. I have WP Pro installed, and downloaded Service Pack 1 but it still only sees the smaller partition, ignoring the rest of the drive. Can anyone help me to get full use of the drive? I have programs loaded, and it has taken a lot of work; will I have to re-format and lose it all? Can I mirror the drive and bring it all back afterward? I hope so! Thanx for your help...

    Hello glenelg,
    welcome to the Windows BBS ...... :) ...... !

If You installed Windows XP on that HDD and then installed SP1, only 127 GB was recognized and formated. If You go to Disk Manager, the rest of the drive should appear as unallocated space. You can create an additional partition in that space.

If this is the case, the CD/DVD will be D: and possibly E: if You have more than one optical device. In Disk Manager, change the drive letters of the opticals to e.g. X: and Y:. Reboot and create an additional partition in the unallocated space. It will then become D:.
